How it all started. the origins of affinty.
With 25 years of experience as a Special Educator, I have dedicated my career to designing and implementing effective interventions for students with complex behavioral and emotional needs. My journey includes 16 years of teaching students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. As a Behavior Instructional Coach, I’ve guided educators in applying proactive strategies and identifying effective behavioral interventions. Additionally, I spent a year as Associate Director at a Facility School in Denver and now serve as a Behavior Specialist for a school district, where I continue to advocate for the success of students in both school and community settings.
Throughout my career, my focus has been on understanding the root causes of student challenges, diligently collecting data, and crafting personalized strategies to promote success across home, school, and community environments. This work has only deepened my commitment to ensuring that every student has the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. The evolving needs within our educational system encourages me to expand my reach to underserved schools and families, particularly those that don’t have the luxury of having a behavior specialist to provide training and guidance.
It’s become increasingly clear to me that the challenges facing our students—especially those struggling with mental health and/or behavioral issues—are not being adequately addressed. The rise of ineffective disciplinary strategies, combined with a shortage of trained staff, has created a cycle that is failing to support the most vulnerable students. This gap in support is something I am determined to change.
Robyn Klein - Founder & Lead Behavioral Consultant
“Behavioral Intervention For The New World.”
The name of my company, Affinity Behavioral Allies, comes from the concept of "the law of affinity," where like attracts like. I’ve always had an affinity for students who are often overlooked—those who struggle to be seen, heard, and validated. There is simply a lack of knowledge, experience, and resources throughout our educational systems when developing systems of support and effective disciplinary measures for students with behavioral issues. This is why I founded Affinity Behavioral Allies: to bridge that gap and provide the critical support that students, families, and schools need to foster lasting change.
Affinity Behavioral Allies is focused on building relationships between families and schools, providing tailored training and coaching for educators, and consulting on effective behavior planning and intervention strategies. Our goal is to ensure that every student, especially those who need it most, receives the support they deserve. This is the work that fuels my passion every day, and I am committed to making a difference for the students who need it most.
I hope to serve you soon.
